Archdeacon’s Visitation Service in Canterbury Cathedral

The Archdeacon’s Visitation Service in Canterbury Cathedral took place on Wednesday 16th May at 7.30 pm when Churchwardens were sworn in. Stephanie Mayes and Loraine Bant, our Churchwardens, were supported by Interim Priest Graham Colley, Lay Reader Margaret Hawkins, members of the PCC, friends and family.

The Archdeacon gave an enthusiastic address entitled “Changed Lives – Changing Lives” and the Cathedral Girls Choir sang the anthem “Lift thine eyes” from Elijah by Mendelssohn.

The Commissary General led the Churchwardens in their declaration of service.

The ceremony concluded with the service of Compline (Night Prayer).

After the service, the Archdeacon entertained the congregation to refreshments in the Chapter House.
