Parish breakfasts are held on the first Saturday of every even month (February, April, June….) in the upstairs room at Quex Barn at 8:30am and last until around 10:00am. This is the latest incarnation of an original idea by our very own Jim Fry for a men’s breakfast which would allow men from the parish, whether Christians or not, to meet for friendship and fellowship.
The meetings were originally held on the first Saturday each month in the Seaview hotel and encompassed a wide range of topics. Although successful, it was decided to open these out to everyone but to hold them bi-monthly and move them to Quex Barn – decisions which have led to an increase in attendance.
Since these changes, we’ve heard talks of around 15-20 minutes, on topics as diverse as ‘The tomb of the unknown warrior’, ‘The myth and magic of Morris Dancing’ and ‘17 years as a female priest’ as well as from several folk who talked about their journey of faith….all this AND a delicious freshly prepared full English breakfast, or lighter alternative, with unlimited tea and coffee and all for just £5.00.
The topics range from the secular, through hobbies to discussions on faith but all are informative and interesting.
So if this tweaks your interest, please come along as all are welcome.
