The Pancake & Soup Lunch in Kearns Hall on Shrove Tuesday was a great success with well over fifty people enjoying a choice of four soups with “Tiger” bread followed by at least three pancakes each to enjoy with freshly squeezed lemon juice and sugar. A retiring collection yielded over £250 which will be given to “Helwel” (to assist the most disadvantaged peoples of KwaZulu Natal towards improved education, self sufficiency and health.)
Many thanks to the small army of cooks who made the home-made soups and fried well over 150 pancakes that morning. Particular mention should be made of Loraine, Jenny and Hazel who tossed endlessly all morning! Thanks also to the “waitresses”, Averil, Lynda, Pam and Lily who served the delicious fare to the tables.
