Bellringing

Have you ever seen bell ringing taking place? Is your only experience of it from the television – Midsomer Murders, Morecambe and Wise or, heaven forbid, Agatha Raisin? Would you like to see what REALLY happens?

We are a friendly group of all ages who meet most weeks to practice this ancient and traditionally English art. We ring regularly on a Sunday morning, to call the congregation to worship, and for weddings and some funerals.

You do not need to be particularly strong (we know of at least one regular nine-year-old ringer and one of over a hundred years of age), religious (people of all faiths and none ring) or mathematically-minded to ring. Reasonable co-ordination is all that really matters, at least to start with. Ringing can be a great gentle work out, helping with both physical and mental health and agility.

If you would like to come and watch or have a go, do feel free to join us at a practice on a Tuesday evening at 7.30. (Please contact tim.attride@talk21.com prior to attending, we ring most weeks, but occasionally a practice may be cancelled.)
